Anniversary of the start of World War I

I guess this can be called the anniversary of the start of World War I, on the 4 August 1914 Britain declared war on Germany. I would like to remember my relatives who fell fighting for their country.

My great uncle on my father’s, father’s side, Edward Joseph Anthon was born 1892 in Cape Town, South Africa. He came to the UK in 1910 and died 30/3/1918 aged 26. He was a Corporal Royal Scots, 16th Bn 19702 he is buried at Bois Guillaume Communal Cemetery Extension.

My great uncle on my mother’s mother’s side George Thomas Harris was born 1897 in Plumstead. He died in action 9/4/1917 aged 20 and is buried at Tilloy British Cemetery, Tilloy-Les-Mofflaines. He was a private in the Northumberland Fusiliers, 1st Bn service number 34465. He was awarded 1914-1918 war medal which I have on my wall.

For our today they gave their tomorrow.
