After the Egyptian Revolution Jan 2011 our tourism business suffered badly, which was very annoying as actually no tourists were affected by the revolution and Luxor continued to be a great place to visit. So with no or little money coming in I looked for other income streams. My very good friend, Colette Mason, who is a professional mentor amongst many other things, suggested that I write a book. Well it took a lot of bullying by her (thanks Tigger) and I published my first book.  Much to my surprise, it sold, people liked my writings so I carried on. I did use the services of an professional editor, Valerie Warner, another good friend, for all the books except Jane’s Jaunt, which is a copy of a blog. In Feb 2012 the Oxford Uni library asked to carry one of my Egyptology books which I count as the ultimate accolade. So thank you to all my readers, you have helped enormously during a very difficult time for Egyptian tourism.

Counting the Cost
Counting the Cost
Ayman and Jane Akshar were members of a cult for 7 years, recruited separately, her from a successful business career and him from post graduate studies. For seven years they obeyed the cult, why? They met each other and married in the cult? They had their daughter in the cult? Then they saw the light and became anti cult campaigners. This is their story, a story of deceit, half truths and manipulation.

Back in 1979, when I was 24, my Dad’s boss said to him one day “Silly question Alec, you don’t know anyone who would be interested in going to Egypt do you. My sister is organising a trip and someone has let her down.” Well of course Dad did, me! This is my diary of that trip.

My award winning dissertation from Manchester Certificate in Egyptology course. What were the attitudes the Ancient Egyptians had to the female breast? The most interesting thing I learned was the impact of breast feeding and I discuss this in my conclusion.
